Bare copper welding rods containing approximately 3% silicon can be used to join copper-silicon and copper-zinc base metals, as well as similar materials. These rods can also be used for overlay welding of un- and low alloyed steels. The silicon in the rods helps to improve the strength and corrosion resistance of the welds.
