Propane Gas FAQs
How to connect your propane cylinder?
To connect your propane cylinder, you can use various pressure regulators or hose assemblies, but the regulator connection remains the same, which is UK POL 5/8″ LH male. First, make sure the POL thread is clean and undamaged before offering it up to the cylinder valve.
The connection is tightened to the left and disconnected to the right, so make sure you select the correct direction. To ensure gas soundness, use a spanner to give the final firm ‘nip’ to tighten onto the valve thread. We recommend conducting a leak test with a simple soap solution. If bubbles are visible around the valve, consider tightening the nut a bit more, but don’t apply excessive force.
If the bubbles persist, it’s best to replace the regulator as permanent damage may have occurred to the POL. Once the regulator is connected, you can turn on the cylinder valve.
How do I disconnect a standard red propane cylinder?
To properly disconnect a standard red propane cylinder, it is important to first ensure that the cylinder valve is securely closed. The next step involves utilising a suitable spanner to safely unscrew and remove the regulator. It is recommended to carefully position the spanner over the brass hexagon nut, then turn it clockwise or to the right to effectively loosen and remove the regulator.
